What to expect at Palais 6 Rodheim/Frankfurt (D)

Only 3 kilometres northeast of the super club FKK Oase, in the village of Rodheim vor der Höhe, you'll find Saunaclub Palais 6, a smaller, family-run establishment with a cosy 70s/80s flair. Most of the time you'll be personally and warmly welcomed by the boss lady herself and shown around the premises. The sauna and whirlpool are very appealingly integrated into the building's snug living-room-style layout, and in the rooms, the loving and imaginative decoration immediately catches the eye. Also very pretty is the garden area with a natural-stone-lined pond and a raised, wood-decked summer terrace. Usually around 10 girls can be found at the club.

Frankfurt am Main:

It's 420 km to Berlin, 390 km to Hamburg, 150 km to Cologne and 200 km to Munich (each as the crow flies): Frankfurt am Main is an ancient trading city in the heart of Germany, with around 730,000 inhabitants smaller than the four German metropolises with over a million inhabitants, yet in many respects a city of superlatives that far outshines all other German cities in significance.

This is true even in the literal sense: the impressive skyline of Frankfurt's skyscrapers is unique in Germany. The ten tallest buildings in Germany are, without exception, located in Frankfurt, including the Commerzbank Tower, the Messeturm, the Main Tower and the ECB building.

But Frankfurt is also one of the most important business centres in the entire world - many German or former German major corporations have or had their headquarters there, including the once-largest chemical company in the world Hoechst, Metallgesellschaft, VDM, Cassella, Hartmann & Braun, Degussa, VDO or Deutsche Bahn, as well as of course numerous banks and financial institutions, above all Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank and Deutsche Börse AG. Frankfurt is home to the largest German stock exchange, the Deutsche Bundesbank and the European Central Bank. In keeping with the significance of the old trade routes, the Frankfurter Kreuz is Europe's most heavily used traffic interchange, Frankfurt Airport is one of the world's most important aviation hubs, and of course you'll also find one of Germany's most important trade fair venues here.

According to surveys, the bustling trading metropolis also ranks among the big cities with the highest quality of life in international comparison, even if negative aspects such as a relatively high crime rate and rents somewhat dampen the overall impression. In any case, Frankfurt is not just a must for business travellers - it also attracts tourists with many attractions. This starts with the historic old town backdrop near the banks of the Main with the Kaiserdom, Römerberg, Goethe-Haus and Paulskirche, all the more so now that the city, in a 200-million-euro project on an area of seven hectares, has had an ensemble of a total of 15 houses around the historic coronation route reconstructed and a further 20 built in historic style. From 1562 onwards - after the site of election and coronation was moved from Aachen to Frankfurt - the Roman-German emperors took this route to the Kaiserdom until the end of the Holy Roman Empire. The Frankfurter Dom - built between 1250 and 1514 - is thus one of the most significant buildings in German imperial history. In the nearby Paulskirche, meanwhile, the German National Assembly convened from May 1848 to May 1849, attempting for the first time on German soil to establish a democratic-parliamentary German nation-state.

A hundred years later, the city - first documented in 794 AD and once a Free Imperial City - nearly became the capital of the young Federal Republic of Germany. Although that didn't come to pass, the city has seen rapid growth in recent decades and brought great prosperity to its citizens. In the city centre, the above-average purchasing power of the public is reflected in the temples of consumption along one of Germany's largest shopping streets: the Frankfurter Zeil with the adjoining Goethestraße. Those who can afford it and want to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city seek out a residence in the idyllically situated spa towns of the neighbouring Hochtaunus: Königstein, Bad Homburg or Kronberg are home to numerous high-earning Frankfurters and count among the wealthiest municipalities in Germany.

For those who prefer to stay in the city, there's plenty on offer in terms of culture and leisure activities: the Oper Frankfurt, the Theater am Turm or the long-established Gallus Theater, the Museumsufer on the Sachsenhausen side of the Main with houses such as the Städel, the Liebighaus or the Museum der Weltkulturen, as well as, away from all that, a vibrant nightlife. Frankfurt is not only home to the tradition-rich football club Eintracht Frankfurt, but also the seat of the most important German sports associations such as the Deutscher Fußball-Bund (DFB), Deutscher Olympischer Sportbund (DOSB), Deutscher Turner-Bund (DTB) or Deutscher Motor Sport Bund (DMSB).

Among Frankfurt's well-known sons and daughters are numerous members of the banking dynasties Rothschild and Oppenheim(er), Caspar & Maria Sibylla Merian as well as Theodor W. Adorno, Bettina von Arnim, Heinrich Hoffmann, Friedrich Wöhler, Otto Emil Hahn, Arthur Schopenhauer and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Heinrich Hoffmann, Erich Fromm, Anne Frank, Wolfdietrich Schnurre, Albert Mangelsdorff, Dieter Wedel, Wolfgang Spier, Marika Kilius, Jean Frankfurter, Michael Groß, Thor Kunkel, Hans Zimmer, Peter Kloeppel, Hannes Jaenicke, Birgit Prinz, Jessica Wahls, Namika, Sonya Kraus, Moses Pelham and Sabrina Setlur.

Rosbach vor der Höhe & Rodheim vor der Höhe:

Rosbach is a small town in Hesse in the western part of the Wetteraukreis and consists of the three districts of Ober-Rosbach, Nieder-Rosbach and Rodheim. Rosbach was first documented in the year 884, while the originally independent district of Rodheim was already documented in 805 in the Lorsch Codex. In 884, Ober-Rosbach was given as an imperial gift to the Fulda Monastery. Later the town passed into the possession of the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt, the Count of Nassau and the Elector and Archbishop of Trier. In 1663 the community was granted town rights. On 1 August 1972, the town of Rosbach was merged with the municipality of Rodheim vor der Höhe as part of the Hessian municipal reorganisation to form the town of Rosbach vor der Höhe.

Among the sights are the Roman fort Kapersburg on the Limes, listed since 2005 as one of the best-preserved sites of the Upper Germanic-Raetian Limes on the World Heritage list, the Wasserburg in Nieder-Rosbach, and the church tower in Rodheim dating from the 18th century.

The historically significant cultural landscape of the Wetterau and Taunus can be explored via the cycling and hiking trails. Cultural and sporting events round off the programme. The town also has its own outdoor swimming pool. The old tradition of walking over the Kirschenberg during blossom season is continued in the annual Blütenfest, followed by the enthronement of the Blossom Queen. During the walk, participants learn interesting facts and anecdotes about the town and its surroundings. Accommodation in various price categories is offered by hotels and private landlords in the three districts.

Thanks to its proximity to Frankfurt am Main Airport (35 kilometres), the gateway to the world, Rosbach has good infrastructure. Its location on the A5 offers quick connections to the Rhine-Main area as well as to the Mittelhessen region and to Gießen. Rosbach can be reached by public transport via bus or train. The singer of the girl group "No Angels", Jessica Wahls, lives in Rodheim.
