The Club Tropi is located in Grenchen, north of the Grenchen-Süd train station, on the main road.
Grenchen is a political municipality and the chief town of the district of Lebern in the canton of Solothurn. The town lies at the southern foot of the Jura at 451 m above sea level, between Biel (French: Bienne) and Solothurn, and is the second-largest town in the canton of Solothurn after Olten. It is easily reached via the A5 motorway and its two railway stations, Grenchen-Nord and Grenchen-Süd, and it even has its own airport.
The name Grenchen dates back to Roman times (granum = grain). In the Middle Ages the town was under the rule of the noble family of Grenchen; in 1393, after a brief period of joint rule by Solothurn and Bern, the area came under the sovereignty of Solothurn.
Grenchen is entirely defined by watchmaking. In 1851 the pioneers Josef Girard and Urs Schild began industrial watch production in Grenchen, laying the foundation for the town's decisive industrial boom and shaping its economic life to this day. Today the watch manufacturers Breitling, Certina, ETA, Eterna, Titoni and Fortis are based in Grenchen.
For a small town, Grenchen offers an astonishing variety of cultural and leisure activities. The town is home to numerous buildings that bear witness to its rapid development. With its location between the Aare and the French-speaking Bernese Jura, Grenchen proves to be a paradise for cyclists, skiers, kayakers and hikers alike. The extensive, nationally significant Witi nature reserve stretches up to the 1,400 m high Grenchenberge, where hikers are rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Alpine panorama with the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
