Club A30 is located in Bünde, east of Bruchmühlen.
Bünde is a town in Nordrhein-Westfalen. It lies right on the state border with Niedersachsen in the Ravensberger Mulde between the Teutoburger Wald and the Wiehengebirge, about 25 km north of Bielefeld and 40 km east of Osnabrück. The town is easily reached via the A30 motorway and has its own IC train station.
The Laurentiuskirche is the oldest building in Bünde. Ludwig der Fromme is said to have gifted it to the Stift zu Herford in the 9th century AD. The present-day town area later belonged to the County of Ravensberg from 1530 and passed to Brandenburg-Preußen in 1614. The Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm I granted Bünde town rights in 1719. During the Napoleonic era the town belonged to the French Empire, and in 1816 it came under Preußen.
In pre-industrial times, Bünde was a centre of flax processing. In 1846, a certain Tönnies Wellensieks from Muckum (today a district of Bünde, at the time still belonging to Ennigloh) settled in the town and opened a cigar manufactory here with eight employees. From this small business grew Bünde's status as the centre of the German tobacco industry, which lasted until the 1960s, when the ever more popular cigarettes brought the cigar market to a standstill. The Deutsche Tabak- und Zigarrenmuseum, part of the Museum Bünde, has been vividly documenting the unique history of tobacco processing in the Bünde area since 1937. The largest employer in Bünde these days is the kitchen appliance manufacturer Miele (formerly Imperial); the well-known model kit maker Revell is also based here, at its only German location.
Singer Gunter Gabriel, who passed away in 2017, as well as footballer and coach David Odonkor, were born in Bünde.
