The club FKK Luderland is located in Leverkusen-Quettingen.

The city of Leverkusen lies on the right bank of the Lower Rhine, at the lower course of the Wupper and on the Dhünn, about 10 km north of Köln-Deutz on the right bank of the Rhine. In the Middle Ages, the land on the right bank of the Rhine largely belonged to the powerful Archdiocese of Köln, and from around 1150 the comital power over what would later become the city's territory lay with the Counts (and later Dukes) of Berg. In 1806, under pressure from Napoleon, the area passed to the Grand Duchy of Kleve-Berg, and after 1815 it became part of the Prussian Rhine Province. From 1816, today's city area was divided into the Sammtgemeinden of Opladen and Schlebusch. Back then the town was by no means yet called Leverkusen — for that, someone else had to come along first.

In 1861, a certain Carl Leverkus, a trained pharmacist from Wermelskirchen in the Bergisches Land, relocated his ultramarine factory to the Rhine near the municipality of Wiesdorf. 30 years later, in 1891, the entrepreneurs Friedrich Weskott, Friedrich Bayer, and Carl Duisberg, who joined them later, moved their company Bayer et comp. — originally founded in 1863 in Barmen and later operated in Elberfeld — to what is now Leverkusen, taking over Carl Leverkus's operation in the process. Over the following decades, this plant grew into the main works of the world-famous Bayer Group. On 1 April 1930, the merging municipalities of the region named themselves after the designation of the works settlement that connected them, in use since 1862: Leverkusen.

Today, Leverkusen consists of city districts 1-3, which in turn are made up of the following 13 districts:

1) Wiesdorf, Manfort, Rheindorf, Hitdorf

2) Opladen, Küppersteg, Bürrig, Quettingen, Bergisch Neukirchen

3) Schlebusch, Steinbüchel, Lützenkirchen, Alkenrath

Despite a history of its localities stretching far back into the Middle Ages, Leverkusen as a functional city stands entirely under the sign of the Bayer Group and its since-spun-off subsidiary Lanxess. One of the most famous landmarks of the city of Leverkusen is the widely visible Bayer-Kreuz, a large illuminated sign whose predecessor was already erected by Carl Duisberg in 1933 between two 126-metre-high chimneys of the Bayerwerk. The BayArena is the home stadium of the football Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Another widely visible structure is the Wasserturm Leverkusen-Bürrig, which is used by the Leverkusen energy utility and also serves as an observation tower.

Alongside a few sights such as Schloss Morsbroich, the Doktorsburg, and the Villa Wuppermann, the Leverkusener Jazztage have grown into the city's outstanding cultural event. Since 1980, numerous renowned international stars of the jazz, blues, and world music scene have appeared here every autumn over up to ten consecutive days in themed concerts.
