Der Club Yin Yang is located in Roermond-Kitskenberg in the immediate vicinity of the district of Melick.
Roermond is a Dutch-German border town in Limburg, the south-easternmost province of the Netherlands. Thanks to its high leisure value, the town is an equally popular destination for Dutch, German and Belgian visitors, and also lures around four million shopping tourists every year with its renowned factory outlet centre, spanning over 40,000 sqm — the largest of its kind in Northern Europe.
Even if the geographical circumstances on the ground suggest otherwise: the town's name does not derive from the fact that here the Roer (Rur) flows into the Maas, forming a vast lake district — the so-called Maasplassen — but instead refers to an old fortification called a Motte. The town was already settled by troops in Roman times and is said to have been called "Villa Optima" under Caesar.
Over the centuries, Roermond has experienced an eventful history. In its actual beginnings in the 12th century it belonged to the Duchy of Geldern, in 1441 it became a Hanseatic town and was granted minting rights in 1472. It subsequently came under Spanish, Austrian, Dutch, French and Belgian rule and suffered two great town fires in 1554 and 1665. From 1839 to 1866 the town belonged both to the Netherlands and to the German Confederation; since 1866 the town has been exclusively Dutch.
From Germany, Roermond can be conveniently reached by car via the A52, which crosses the A73 on Dutch territory. Rail travellers must arrive via the Dutch neighbouring town of Venlo to the north, or via Sittard, also Dutch, located south of Roermond. There is a railway line - the so-called Iron Eagle - which connects Mönchengladbach and Antwerp via Roermond, though on the German side it is only serviced as far as the border town of Dalheim.
The Maas is a not insignificant waterway on French, Belgian and Dutch territory. Roermond's tranquil old town borders the town's harbour area, which, besides the industrial harbour quays, is also home to promenades with a marina and moorings for tourist sightseeing boats, and, further along the lake district, floating houses and campsites as well.
