The Club Elegant is located in Oberbüren south of the town centre.
Oberbüren is a political municipality in Fürstenland in the canton of St. Gallen and lies at 483 m above sea level. It is well accessible via the A1 motorway and the train station of Uzwil, and lies about 21 km west of the city of St. Gallen.
Under the overlordship of the Abbot of St. Gallen, the Giel von Glattburg family ruled the upper part of the municipality from Glattburg on the Glatt, while the Schenken von Glattburg-Landegg ruled the lower part of the municipality from the hills of Oberbüren and Glattburg on the Thur. Starting in 1463, Prince-Abbot Ulrich Rösch of St. Gallen turned the loose structure of medieval feudal rights into a modern-era state. The collection of village rights in charters ("Offnungen") set the course for the municipalities over the following 300 years: 1466 Gebertschwil, 1469/1495 Lenggenwil-Durstudlen, and finally 1481 Oberbüren. In 1803, the political municipality of Oberbüren was formed from the parishes of Oberbüren and Niederwil and the village of Durstudlen (Sonnental), as part of the founding of the canton of St. Gallen.
Oberbüren was traditionally agricultural and was shaped in the 19th century by the weaving industry, later by the cottage embroidery industry. Nowadays the town boasts a broad portfolio of businesses based here from the industrial and service sectors.
Between Oberbüren and Niederbüren, the Biberlehrpfad (beaver nature trail) runs along the Thur.
