The Club Ferienzentrum Riva is located in Frauenfeld, northeast of the town centre, right at the Frauenfeld-Ost exit of the A7 motorway.
The town of Frauenfeld is a political municipality and the capital of the Swiss canton of Thurgau. It lies at 417 m above sea level, about 45 km northeast of Zürich-Stadt and 30 km southwest of Konstanz (D), and is easily reached via the A1 and A7 motorways as well as Frauenfeld railway station.
Frauenfeld arose in the Middle Ages on land belonging to the Reichenau monastery. Frauenfeld is documented as a town for the year 1286, at which time it was presumably under Habsburg territorial rule. In 1460 the Confederates took control in Thurgau. In the years 1771 and 1788 the town was almost completely destroyed by devastating fires, so that today's townscape is particularly shaped by the late Baroque and Classicist representative buildings of the following eras. With the establishment of the Helvetic Republic in 1798, Frauenfeld became the capital of Thurgau. Today's town of Frauenfeld consists of the eight districts Vorstadt (Altstadt and obere Vorstadt), Ergaten-Talbach, Kurzdorf, Langdorf, Herten-Bannhalde, Huben, Gerlikon and Erzenholz-Horgenbach-Osterhalden.
Worth seeing in Frauenfeld are the Stadtkirche St. Nikolaus, one of the most important examples of Neo-Baroque sacred architecture in the canton of Thurgau, the old Schloss Frauenfeld from the 13th century in the south of Frauenfeld's old town above the banks of the Murg, the Bernerhaus (Haus zur Gedult) and the Bauernhaus Baliere.
Frauenfeld is known for its tradition of pop, blues and jazz music festivals. The Openair-Festival Frauenfeld on the Grosse Allmend of the municipality, held since 1985, has since become the largest hip-hop open-air festival in Europe.
