The Club FKK Night & Day is located in Bürstadt northeast of the town centre.
Bürstadt lies in the Upper Rhine lowlands between the Rhine and the Odenwald low mountain range in the so-called Hessian Ried (marsh). Not far from the city, the Bergstraße tourist route runs to the east; to the west, the Rhine forms the border between Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate. On the opposite bank of the Rhine is the town of Worms.
About 10 km east of Bürstadt lies the town of Lorsch, known for its monastery of Lorsch, which was declared a World Heritage Site and founded in 764 by Count Cancor. Bürstadt was first mentioned in 767 in a deed of donation from the Lorsch Codex, a register of monastery properties. In 1232 Emperor Frederick II subordinated the Imperial Abbey of Lorsch to the archbishopric of Mainz, which led to centuries-long disputes between the Electorate of Mainz (Kurmainz) and the Palsgraves of the Electoral Palatinate as holders of the bailiwick rights. In the age of the Reformation, the Electoral Palatinate abolished the Lorsch monastery in 1564; in 1782, Kurmainz made Lorsch the superior official bailiwick. As a result of the Napoleonic Wars, Kurmainz was dissolved in 1803, Bürstadt came to the landgraviate Hessen-Darmstadt, which in 1820 adopted the constitution of the Grand Duchy of Hesse and joined the German Reich in 1871.
With the connection of the Nibelungen railway line from Worms via Lorsch to Bensheim the village Bürstadt entered the industrial age. Bürstadt station is one of the few tower stations in Germany. After the Second World War Bürstadt changed from a purely agricultural community to a small town with not insignificant industry.
Bürstadt, including the two districts Bobstadt and Riedrode, now has more than 16,000 inhabitants and benefits from its convenient location at two traffic junctions. Bürstadt is located at the intersection of the Mannheim-Frankfurt ICE line and the Worms-Bensheim Nibelungen Railway. On the other hand, the important B44 federal highway, which serves as a north/south link between Mannheim and Frankfurt, and the B47 east/west link between Worms and Bensheim intersect on the outskirts of the city. Within a radius of less than 10 km there are connections to four motorways.
Bürstadt is located in one of the most historically significant cultural landscapes in Germany. Not least, the mysterious Nibelungen saga also plays an important role here.
Since 1954, young gymnasts from all over the world have met regularly in Bürstadt for the Gymnastica, a kind of international gymnastics festival that not only promotes competition but also intercultural exchange. The mostly young athletes show acrobatics at the highest level.
