The Club Van Goch is located in Goch-West.
Goch is located about 10 km south of Kleve and lies in the border area with the Netherlands. The picturesque Lower Rhine town on the Niers has excellent transport links via the A57, which continues on the Dutch side as the A77, and has its own railway station; since the Irish airline Ryanair designated the neighbouring former Royal Air Force airfield Weeze as Airport Düsseldorf on 01 May 2003, the town has enjoyed numerous transit guests, particularly from the Netherlands.
Goch was founded in the 13th century and initially belonged to the Duchies of Geldern and Kleve. Of the late medieval fortifications, the impressive Steintor in the old town still remains today. Between 1614 and 1815, rule over Goch passed from the Dutch to the Spanish to the French; at the time of the Congress of Vienna, Goch came under Prussian rule. The town has existed in its present municipal form since 01 July 1969.
Goch is a town for leisure activities. Besides cycling and hiking tours along the Niers and the Rhine as well as through the Lower Rhine hinterland, activities are on offer in currently 43 sports clubs in total; the numerous sports facilities include, among others, three tennis halls, three tennis courts, two riding halls, three riding grounds, an aviation sports area, two fitness trails, a fun-and-action park, a shooting range, a canoe and bicycle rental, as well as the "GochNess" leisure pool. Schloss Moyland in the neighbouring village of Bedburg-Hau is also an attractive destination for excursions.
