Was Sie im Happy Garden Tönisvorst (D) erwartet

The (Planet) Happy Garden - PHG - is one of the oldest sauna clubs in North Rhine-Westphalia and has been in existence since 1993. Since 1 April 2014, the --> Magnum Erkrath/Düsseldorf has been the operator of the PHG, which has since called itself simply "Happy Garden".  The club is located in a small industrial area in no man's land between Krefeld, Kempen, Grefrath, Tönisvorst, Oedt, St. Tönis/Vorst and Viersen-Süchteln. At the entrance to the industrial area there is a sign tower with lots of information boards about the individual companies, at night the PHG stands out due to the lighting. There is a

disabled parking lot directly in front of the entrance. Tip: Have a key for the new rear changing area given to you at the reception, there is no "through traffic". The entrance fee of 60 EUR includes a bathrobe, bath slippers and any number of towels (available at reception, in the left shower room and to the left of the indoor sauna). In addition all non-alcoholic beverages, beer (draught beer and from bottles) and food as well as the use of the health resort (sauna inside and outside, swimming pool outside). Hard drinks and cocktails (Wed-Sat) cost extra, on Wednesdays 2 cocktails are free. In the night cafe, sports broadcasts are shown

on a large screen (also SKY), there is self-service (tap, refrigerators, coffee machine). The PHG is rather a night club, i.e. during the day it is quite calm, from 6-7 p.m. it becomes lively. At the weekend several DJs take turns. The club is open daily from 11 a.m. until 5 a.m., rest day is only 24 December. And: in the garden, in summer and winter, BBQs are held daily from about 5 p.m. in the early evening until around 3 a.m. without exception. The receptionist will be happy to organise a taxi for you on your way back, which is usually on site within 10 minutes. For birthday persons, the club is generous and grants free entry on presentation of their identity card.

The Club Happy Garden is located at the outermost north-western edge of the town of Tönisvorst (near the municipality of Oedt, which is a district of Grefrath).
"Sei nicht bloed, fahr nach Oedt!" (= Don't be stupid, go to Oedt) is a buzz saying that has been used by the long-time followers of the well-established sauna club (Planet) Happy Garden, which - just like the neighbouring ByNight - is located 1.5 km northeast of the next village Oedt. The two clubs, however, are located on the ground of the town of Tönisvorst, on the boundary with the town of Kempen 5 km to the north; Oedt, however, belongs to the municipality of Grefrath, which lies 5 km to the north-west. For both Grefrath and Tönisvorst, the city of Kempen, with a population of around 30,000 and its own railway connection, is the closest compact, larger town with a pretty, closed old town centre, which is a popular excursion destination in the region. In this Lower Rhine natural landscape, most of the villages rise up as scattered settlements in the midst of a cosy idyll of fields, meadows and woods, repeatedly interspersed with individual cottages and farmsteads. Common to all villages is that they have a relatively well documented history dating back to the Middle Ages.
Tönisvorst has only existed in its present form since 1970, however, when the two main towns of St. Tönis and Vorst merged in the course of a communal restructuring and later in 1979 were finally granted town rights. The first traces of settlement in the area of today's Butzenstraße, where the Happy Garden is also located, date from the Stone Age. The area was conquered by Caesar between 58 and 51 B.C. A church is documented for Vorst already for the year 1131, and 200 years later also for St. Tönis. Both villages belonged first as so-called honorary communities to the office Kempen and thus to the diocese Cologne. The Duke of Kleve took control in 1449, in 1758 the area became Prussian.
Tönisvorst can be easily reached by car via the A44 motorway, Münchheide exit. The local connection with public transport is by bus; the tranquil St. Tönis can also be reached quickly by tram 041 from Krefeld. Tönisvorst no longer has its own railway station, but this was not always the case: In 1849, in the heyday of the silk weavers of Vorst, a railway station was built in St. Tönis, which opened the connection to the Krefeld silk farm; in 1871 the Vorst central railway station was added. The Süchteln - Vorst - St. Tönis - Krefeld line was in operation for almost 100 years; the Vorst station was closed down and demolished in 1968. The final end of this railway connection was in 1978 with the dismantling of the tracks. Today, a cycle path leads along the place of the old railway line. If you still want to travel by train, the nearest stations are on the Krefeld - Forstwald (Forsthaus) - Anrath railway line or in Kempen.
