The Club Libido is located in Nuremberg-Maiach.
This once magnificent medieval city has achieved sad world fame as the venue for the NSDAP Rallies, the proclamation site of the Nuremberg Laws and the scene of the Nuremberg Trials. Today, walking through the rebuilt old town with its historic mile in the middle of the city fortifications and its bridges over the Pegnitz River in the shadow of the mighty Imperial Castle, you can see the incomparable beauty this city must have possessed in the past, despite the destruction during World War II.
Today, the Franconian metropolis is the second largest city in the Free State of Bavaria. Its trademarks are the ancient castle, which is one of the most historically and architecturally significant fortifications in Europe, the Christmas Market, the Germanic National Museum and the Toy Fair. The city was the residence of many emperors, Charles IV issued the Golden Bull here in 1356. In the 15th century Nuremberg, together with Cologne and Prague, was one of the largest cities of the Holy Roman Empire.
On December 7th, 1835, the first German railway ran between Nuremberg and Fürth. In the wake of this historic event, the city became an important industrial centre in the 19th and 20th centuries. Unfortunately, in the course of its more recent history, Nuremberg has lost all or large parts of a number of well-known commercial enterprises such as Hercules and Zündapp as representatives of the once renowned Nuremberg motorcycle industry as well as MAN, Triumph-Adler, AEG, Quelle or DHL, which had their branches here. Today, Nuremberg is home to Alcatel-Lucent's Optical Center of Excellence, Nürnberger Assurance, DATEV, Gesellschaft für Konsumforschung (Society for Consumer Research), hotel.de and Immowelt, among others. Nuremberg is also Germany's most important printing location with Prinovis and Schlott Group.
Nuremberg is currently the city with the highest number of sauna clubs. In addition, one of the oldest red light districts in Germany is located in the city centre behind the so-called Frauentormauer, which is part of the old city wall.
Among the well-known sons and daughters of Nuremberg are Albrecht Dürer, Peter Henlein, Hans Sachs, Georg Philipp Harsdörffer, Martin Behaim, Anton Fugger, Johann Pachelbel, Theodor von Cramer-Klett, Sigmund Schuckert, Theo Schöller, Max Grundig, Hermann Zapf, Max Morlock, Madeleine Schickedanz, Hanns Zischler, Waldemar Hartmann, Dagmar & Hans Rudolph Wöhrl, Markus Söder, Marusha and Hannah Stockbauer.
